03.41 (7.80 ha Index 158)
This group corresponds to the large plain that is located on both banks of the Santa Lucia River, mainly in the section in which it is bordering between the Departments. of Canelones y Florida. A reference place is the Pueblo San Ramon, since to the north of it it appears with a significant extension. It is a high plain, occasionally flooded, with mesorelief, where high positions are dominant and present Melanic Eutric Planosols and Luvic Eutric Brunosols, hydromorphic (Brown to Maximum Black Grasslands) developed on clayey silt sediment, with very dark brown upper horizons. black, silty loam texture, high fertility and imperfect drainage. In high positions there may also be Eutric Argisols, sometimes Subeutric, Typical Melanic (Maximal Brown Grasslands). In depressed positions the Planosols already mentioned occur, although with a horizon of variable thickness (10 to 40 cm.), of accumulation (cumulic), of very dark gray to black color and texture of silty clay loam to silty clay. Also in depressed and humid positions there are Melanic Luvic Gleysols (Humic Gley), and associated with the water course in areas of alluvial sediments, Melanic Heterotextural Fluvisols (Alluvial Soils) develop, with river jungle vegetation. The use is pastoral, with high quality summer and winter pastures and parks of variable density, with the only limitation being the risk of flooding. This group corresponds to the San Ramon unit on the 1:1.000.000 (DSF) scale chart.
10.11 (3.56 ha Index 210)
It is a group that is located discontinuously in the south of the Departments. of Canelones, Montevideo, San Jose y Colonia. It is recognizable in the places of Barranca de Mauricio and Kiyu. The geological material corresponds to clayey silt sediments with a lot of fine and very fine sand. The relief is made up of long slopes with gentle slopes of the order of 0.5 to 1.5%. The soils are Subeutric Planosols, sometimes Eutric Melanic, very dark brown in color, silty loam texture with fine and very fine sand, high fertility and imperfect drainage. In this group, crops and stubble predominate compared to pastoral use. In the vicinity of Montevideo Vegetable and fruit crops are common. This group integrates the Kiyu unit of the letter at a scale of 1:1.000. 000. (DSF).
03.3 (2.64 ha Index 96)
This group corresponds to the plains of rivers and streams that occur associated with hills of crystalline basement. An example is the existing plain in the Arroyo Santa Lucia Chico. The geological material corresponds to clayey silt sediments and, close to water courses, alluvial sediments of variable textures and stratified. They are rapid and short-duration flood plains, with meso-relief, showing channels and meanders, typical of their fluvial origin. The dominant soils correspond to Eutric Melanic Planosols, sometimes cumulic, very dark brown to black in color, silty loam and when cumulic, silty clay, very high fertility and imperfect drainage, and Gleysols, Typical Luvic, Melanic, black to black in color. very dark gray, silty clay loam or silty clay, very high fertility and poor drainage. The use is pastoral, with summer meadow vegetation and in the humid areas hydrophilic and uliginous communities are associated. In the riparian areas, with Heterotextural Fluvisols (Alluvial Soils), there is the typical river forest throughout the country. This group, for reasons of scale, is included in the San Gabriel - Guaycuru unit on the map at a scale of 1:1.000.000 (DSF).
